Scoring Points are awarded based on the distance a participant covers during their 20 minute interval. The scoring system is weighted in an attempt to balance the importance of each discipline as if you were racing in an outdoor triathlon where the bike is the longest leg, the swim is the shortest leg and the run is inbetween.
The scale is as follows: Swim: 1 mile (63.2 pool lengths) is equal to 100 points Bike: 10 miles is equal to 100 points Run: 4 miles (20 laps) is equal to 100 points
Very few participants will reach the 100 point benchmark in any discipline. For racers who cover more or less distance in the given time, points will be scaled linearly. For example, a person who covers 5 miles on the bike will receive 50 points and someone who makes it 6 miles on the run will earn 150 points (while setting a world record for the fastest mile).
