On Saturday April, 18 the MSU Triathlon team found themselves in the lone star state competing against some of the most ferocious competition in the sport of triathlon. Three races were held Saturday starting with the USAT Collegiate Sprint Tri then the 2009 Collegiate Nationals race ending with the Twenty 12 sprint. The race site was the Buffalo Springs Lake Park near the city of Lubbock, Texas. Akin to the Daytona 500 Collegiate Nationals is the biggest race of the season and it is before the triathlon season heats up. The races were dominated by the Spartans. With over 700 collegiate athletes and 95 schools represented the Spartan men placed fifth overall and the Spartan ladies placed 10th overall. The triathlon team had a great weekend of racing in Texas. Thank you to everyone who supported the team and cheered us on.
